1976.  Petty and Pearson wreck out of turn 4 on the last lap.  Pearson crosses the finish line on the infield barely moving .

I'd have to say, for me, that the '07 Daytona 500 was one of the best.  One the one hand, it sucked seeing Mark Martin being robbed of his first 500 win, but then again, it was neat to see Kevin Harvick driving the late Dale Sr.'s former ride to Victory Lane.

One other thing I'll never forget from that same race is watching Clint Bowyer sliding across the start/finish line on his roof.  What a wild finish that was!

I, personally, am a Kyle Busch fan. In all honesty, however, I really enjoyed seeing Dale Earnhardt, Jr. celebrate after winning the 2004 Daytona 500...  :)

I also enjoyed seeing Jeff Gordon earn his third Daytona 500 victory in 2005...

1975-Pearson leads by a mile, going to win his first Daytoa 500.  Three laps to go and   coming down the backstretch he's about to put another lap on Cale Yarborough and Richie Panch when he starts to pull up in front of one of them he cuts it a little to close and spins out.  After starting dead last, Benny Parsons go on to win.  RIP Benny.

Ol BP was cool. When I got a chance to meet him at the Rock, you would of thought he was your Uncle the way he was friendly to anyone that walked up to him.

Here's BP with my buddy Denis at The Rock in 2003.

wanted martin to win... but that was hell of a run by harvick
When Davey Allison went to heaven, he was met at the gate by Alan Kulwicki.  Behind Alan, Davey could see the #7 and #28 cars.  Alan said "Man this place is great.  The cars are setup perfect!"  Then Davey saw the #3 car and exclaimed  "Oh No!  Not Dale too!"  Alan said "No, THAT'S the car God races

1983 and 1984 Daytona 500's were great. I think Cale Yarborough made last lap passes in both those races.

2007 hands down.  Awesome exciting race with a wild finish.

However for the sport...2001 (minus the last turn).  It was the first race of the new network TV deal and Fox raised the bar in coverage of a NASCAR race.  It had the wild wreck (Stewart's flip on the backstretch) and really put NASCAR on the map.  It's too bad that the race is remember for what happened in the final turn of the final lap of the race.
