Title: Motordrome Speedway released for NR2003....
Post by: RacerRon13 on 02/03/15, 03:06 AM
John Norton of Wild Kustom Cars + NR2003 Track Design has released Motordrome Speedway; a 1/2 mile asphalt track located about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Using videos from YouTube and my own reference photos, he has made what I feel is a very enjoyable track which is slightly elevated on the backstretch with banking that dives into Turns 3 and 4.  Added grip allows passing on the outside and the AI do the same.  I consulted with John on this track and must say I'm tickled to death with it.  As we know, NR2003 has its limitations.  To make a decent-sized field, he has made two pit roads to replace the front stretch one at the real track.  A single pit road would have limited the track to about 18 cars.  Motordrome (NR2003 version) can run up to 26 cars, including the player.

John just started making tracks for NR2003 back in August, 2014.  He has made a number of tracks from the Midwest including Hales Corner, Golden Sands and Lake Geneva as well as The Chili Bowl.

You can download his tracks from his Facebook page:

Motordrome is available here:

I would personally like to thank John and all of those who continue to keep NASCAR Racing 2003 Season alive.  I am currently taking some time to paint up LMPv2 cars for tracks such as Motordrome, Jennerstown and past Lake Erie cars (which hasn't ran Late Models in a couple of years).  I will announce any releases as they become available.

ENJOY!!!!!

You do know that Motordrome open in 1972 as a Dirt Track was closed then paved in 1989 and nascar sanc in 1990

Yes I did.  And, the way it is being ran now this could be the last we see of racing at Motordrome for awhile.   But, I have to tell ya this is one of the most competitive offline tracks you will find.  I have a set of cars that race/raced there and I have a blast just watching the AI run.  Can't thank John Norton enough for making this track.

I haven't completed an entire set.  A few are done.  Many haven't changed or changed much from 2014 to 2015.  Someone was interested in hosting them on their site, but they seem to have issues with it and even the files I sent were never posted on their site.  MAYBE Robert might be interested?   It's been a rough few months.  I lost my job back in April.  I have worked some temp jobs.  Fortunately, I get unemployment while looking for a new job.  Plus, my monitor went KAPUT and I didn't have money for a new one.  However, someone gave my a monitor recently and I'm trying to finish all of the cars from Jennerstown and Motordrome from the past two seasons.  Actually, I just got Jennerstown's simulator updated to where my Late Models (rather than Winston Cup cars) are running on it (with the Jennerstown track).  Also, I am one of the announcers there.  My biggest problem, if you will, is that I'm a stickler for detail and it takes me awhile to complete my cars.  I use things like the real car's exhaust, spoiler, fuel filler and even the different types of rivits on the valance strips.  It's gotten so bad that I actually put rivits, if they'really bare, in their exact locations... or as close as possible given that the LMPV2 bodies aren't an exact match.  I will post some infame pics and a list.  Like I said, some are done (some still need rendered) while others have a little bit to finish.

And finally, Travis Fisher's ride from 2014.  He is a frontrunner at tracks in eastern Pennsylvania and New York.  Made the 3 1/2 hour trek west a few times.  Won a couple of races.  Has joined us this year and we expect his team to run regularly at Jennerstown next year.   More are done; just not rendered.

Really outstanding work on those hot rods, Ron!  The attention to detailing really shows.  Looking forward to getting the whole set of 'em.

Thanks J.R.  Seems there's some interest.   Guess I had better knuckle down and finish these.  You mentioned details.  I'll give you an example.  I make sure the spoiler matches the real car.  I've done enough of these that some are the same.  But, in other cases, maybe the spoiler bases are the same but the support rods are different.  Ohhhh... and the Ford models are nightmares.  What you see is actually mapped from the top part (facing trunk). However, if you get really close to the rear bumper, the mapping changes to what is on the backside of the template like the other three models are.  So, I try to line them up on both sides for the Fords so you won't see that flash or disappearance all together of the spoiler.  And now I've kinda gotten fixated on body rivits.   UGHHHHHH.  LOL

Hey Ron, you really do have a lot of great cars here and we would love to have you join the crew here and host your work.

I've responded to your PM with a few details and added you to the RG Painter group so you can start uploading your cars when you're ready.

Welcome to the team!

the details are phenomenal. I cannot imagine how long it took you. I am a huge fan of the LMPv2 mod. It is what I use the most then the whelen mod. I am a lover of short track racing. Is there a clear spoiler fix somewhere out there for this mod, and is there an update in the works or on the radar?

There's no fix for the opaque spoiler unless someone with modding skills knows how to do it.  I just wish someone would make a more accurate Late Model mod.  LMPV2 is nice to have, but lacks in accuracy.  Some of my cars tend to take awhile to finish because of the detail.  But, I don't take a lot of time to paint much during the week either.  I have more incentive now.

Yeah.... Todd Garren was working on his third Late Model version, but never finished it.  It was handed off to another  group, but never finished as well.

I have seen these pics... sorta like the legends car mod that was in the works and never got done. I understand that life comes, so that is why they probably never got done. I think some attention and interest might be had in a IMCA modified mod. Both dirt and asphalt, they are very popular all over the US and Canada. Might be something that everyone could enjoy both asphalt and dirt.

HMMMMM.... I thought there was something like the IMCA Mods.  Maybe ARCA Mods or something.   Maybe I'm just dreaming.  So many mods have been made the past 12 years that it is difficult to keep track of all of them.

Found this at www.dothunder.com (http://www.dothunder.com).  It may be available elsewhere.  Not sure if this is what you were referring to.  These are fairly close to what we run at Jennerstown.  The bodies seem to differ from team to team and we have rub bars.... or whatever they're called.... along the sides.  Oh noooooo.  I definitely don't need to be painting MORE cars.  LOL.   Actually, I have thought of painting a combination of our Street Stocks and Chargers (Pure/Hobby Stocks) on the Aero88 mod since most of our cars are Monte Carlos.  That will have to wait.

Cool.  I had forgotten about this mod.  Now I have to resist temptation to paint our Jennerstown cars; not that we have gotten many this year.
