It was Brian Peters leading the RGRL EZRaceSite.com Outlaw Late Models to the start at South Boston, but it was Steven Littrell who took advantage of an early bobble by Peters to take over the lead on lap one. Matthew Spinks then showed his muscle as he roared past Littrell and took the point on lap two.
It was also Brian Roberts who brought out the first caution of the night when he looped his racecar on lap five. Matthew Spinks continued to lead but found some company when Peters worked his way back through the field and joined the battle for the top spot. Peters was able to pass Spinks on lap seventeen and the two continued to battle hard until the caution flew when Spinks made contact with Peters’ back bumper sending him around.
The caution flew once again when Steve Wright and Peter Glover made contact while battling side by side. Spinks continued setting the pace up front while Derek Lacey had moved into the second spot and started to pressure the race leader. Lacey was able to get to the inside of Spinks but was unable to complete the pass before the caution waved as Steven Littrell lost the handle on his racecar in turn two. Si Upton slid into the second spot when Lacey got loose on the following restart.
The yellow was out once more when Steve Wright made contact with Travis Wright and sent him into a spin. Things up front were shuffled around as most of the field made pit stops under the yellow, Peters would lead on the restart and things got tight with the top four.
The close racing up front caused Spinks to inadvertently make contact with Lacey and turn him. Littrell got the jump on Peters on the next restart and was able to get inside and battle for the lead, Spinks followed Littrell past both Peters and Upton to move into the second spot. Spinks would get into Littrell while battling for the top spot and sent him spinning; Si Upton spun his car in an attempt to avoid the wreck.
Spinks was black flagged during this caution for failing to serve the appropriate penalties for earlier on track incidents. This gave the lead to Lacey who would have Brian Peters and Steven Littrell on his back bumper for the remainder of the race. Littrell moved past Peters into the second spot and immediately began to pressure the race leader.
Lacey and Littrell battled hard for the number one spot while the laps wound down, and with just three laps to go, Littrell was able to get by Lacey and looked like he was on his way to victory, however Littrell got loose at the turn two exit and Lacey was able to sneak back by on the high side, Peters joined the battle up front and the three were nose to tail on the white flag lap.
Lacey was able hold off Littrell for his first ever win, Brian Peters finished in third, Peter Glover crossed the line fourth and Steve Wright rounded out your top five.
