The Rioux Mods Cup Series visited Bristol Motor Speedway on Monday, February 15th, 2010.
In Qualifying, Lockport, NY driver Keith Joseph won the Racin Grafix Pole Award with a lap of 15.160. Don Colbath III was second fastest, while Brian Roberts, Gary Hamel, and Steven Littrell rounding out the top five starting spots.
Keith Joseph and Don Colbath III brought the cars to the green for the start of the Jack Daniels 100. Colbath would get a great jump and take the lead going into Turn 1. Colbath and Joseph would swap position over the next 18 laps. The #1 of Cayce Rogers would soon close in as the top two cars dueled for position.
On lap 19, Colbath slipped up and allowed Rogers to get a run to the low side. Rogers was now in command of the race and would set the tone for the rest of the race. Meanwhile, Colbath's handling seamed to be going away on his Ford and spun on lap 21, backing his car into the Turn 3 wall bringing out the first caution of the night.
After running some green flag laps, Colbath would again experience handling problems and spun the tires coming out of 2. It looked like he would have the car saved, but overcorrected and shot up the track in Turn 3 collecting David Azevedo and Si Upton.
Rogers continued to dominate the race, but on lap 60, his car broke lose coming out of Turn 2 and spun. Steven Littrell, driving the #82, had nowhere to go and slid into the side of Rogers collecting David Azevedo and Scott Jackson.
Shawn Musick would take over the top spot and lead the way over the next several laps. On lap 78, Jackson saw an opportunity to go under Musick and take the lead. Si Upton would follow with Musick dropping back to third. Upton would stay on the back bumper of the #28, waiting for any mistake from Jackson.
Upton took over the lead on lap 83, but with the laps winding down, things started to heat up. A three car battle started to take shape with just 10 laps to go. Littrell would take over the lead with Jackson looking high and low. Jackson continued to pressure Littrell, but couldn't get the run he needed to complete the pass.
Littrell would take the white flag and entering Turn 1, Jackson looked low for the pass and touched the rear quarter panel of the #82 causing both cars to spin. Si Upton, who was running third at the time, slipped by and brought home his first win of the season in the Rioux Mods Cup Series.
Following the #7 Scorpion Cues Chevy to the checkered was Scott Jackson, Shawn Musick, Steven Littrell and Keith Joseph. Completing the top ten were Brian Roberts, Cayce Rogers, David Azevedo, Don Colbath III, and Gray Hamel.
