Black Hills Backroads takes another step backward in time from the Rushmore Scenic Byway. It's 1940 and carving on Mount Rushmore National Memorial is just about finished. The sculpture's prominence as a national symbol of American pride hasn't yet created a tourism industry in South Dakota's Black Hills. So the roads wind through pristine pine forests untouched by development except for the occasional train passing through.
The 10-mile course features glorious 1940s-technology of black and white scenery with a dusting of snow across the landscape. Several alternate routes give you options for racing terrain, some creating shortcuts and some not....
Track creation by Stefano Dimera at Windy City Racing and Chad Coppess at Racin Grafix and Dakotagraph.

If you're feeling extra brave, give the Black and White GN69ST Carset a spin as well. Sharp looking cars on this blacked out track!
Another cool carset that is currently in production is from Chris Sullivan, aka CerealisAmazing. The 1991 Busch Series Carset for the Cup 90 mod. Currently there's just over 50 cars up for download, but Chris has a lot more to be added.
Chris has literally spent almost an entire year putting this carset together, and his work is outstanding. From the names you know, like Ernie Irvan and Michael Waltrip, to field fillers and 1 race deals like Mark Martin's 01 Carolina Ford Dealers car. This set is truly Amazing... pun intended.
We have a diverse crew of painters here at Racin Grafix, and these guys are all excellent at coming up with some great ideas. The Mt. Lawn carset from Skot71 is a perfect example of that.
While there's only 11 cars in the set, they are perfect examples of the local short track bombers many of us grew up on from our local dirt tracks. Right down to the beat up fenders and hand painted numbers.
If you love old school racing like Scott does, check out the Mt. Lawn SNSC70 Cars in the downloads! Thanks for doing these Scott, they definitely fit right into the old school feel we know and love here at RG.
Just in time for America's big Independence Day celebration, racing under the patriotic gaze of the four presidents on Mount Rushmore National Memorial has arrived!
Rushmore Scenic Byway is a 3.8 mile fantasy road course based on real roads and the incredible scenery of the Black Hills of South Dakota with a 1950s twist. Classic nostalgic roadside attractions are featured throughout the track, some still operating, some that are long gone and some that never were.
NR2003 Track Maker Stefano Dimera and South Dakota Tourism Photographer Chad Coppess have combined their talents for a unique experience that took 1 ½ years to complete.
As you navigate through a recreation of the real-life Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road’s pigtail bridges and tunnels, you will pass Crazy Horse Memorial, Sylvan Lake, Dinosaur Park, the Days of ’76 Rodeo and Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Billboards along the way advertise other attractions such as Thunderhead Falls, Trout Haven and Wall Drug.
The Rushmore Scenic Byway is available right here at www.racingrafix.com with a companion GN69ST carset sponsored by even more South Dakota tourist attractions.
Pascal has done it again. After the success of his previous IROC-Z28 carset, he set out to paint 50 cars to represent the United States of America. Not to be left out, he included a 51st car, the Washington DC car as well. You can grab them in the downloads now in the IROC Z-28 Carsets category. Don't forget to leave a comment and let Pascal know how much we appreciate his hard work and dedication to keeping this often forgot mod alive with new livery!
